Yesterday was great fun (apart from Watford losing 0-1 to Reading!) as I got to cycle pitchside at Vicarage Road and then enjoyed the Watford leaving do!
Pre-match (at about 2.45pm) I rode my touring bike along the side of the pitch in front of the Rous and Rookery stands at Vicarage Road whilst being announced over the tannoy, and was pretty surprised by how much applause I got from the crowd – genuinely felt humbled to get that recognition, so thanks to everyone who was there. There was also an article in the matchday programme and my posters were all around the ground too, so I think it’s fair to say that many WFC fans are now aware of my #SambaCycle challenge and word will continue to spread, hopefully leading to some charity donations over the next 5 months.
Update: there’s a nice write-up on the club website here.
After the match I headed to the pub with my parents and we met some of the other lads who’d been at the footy plus a bunch of other mates, and much booze and thai food was consumed! It was a really fun night, great to see everyone, and thanks for the support, I hope I survive Brazil and make you all proud! I’m looking forward to Weds night and leaving do #2.
Take note kids, drinking alcohol can lead to embarrassment…
