So it seems most Brazilian people love classic British guitar bands, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, The Smiths and The Cure. Oh, and Coldplay.
There’s no denying that lot have a back-catalogue of truly great music.
But come on Brazil, move with the times, there’s so much newer (and I’m going back to the 90’s here!) music that you need to hear, that’s been influenced by some of those old bands, or maybe not, but either way discovering it could change your life!
I’m no great music expert but here’s my attempt to suggest some alternatives (some/many of these you must know already, right?!):
– From the UK (in vaguely chronological order)
Oasis
Blur
Radiohead
The Stone Roses
Primal Scream
Pulp
Doves
The Verve
Super Furry Animals
Elbow
Arctic Monkeys
Kasabian
Amy Winehouse
Foals
Frank Turner
Florence & the Machine
Bombay Bicycle Club
Jake Bugg
The Vaccines
Mumford & Sons
The Prodigy (dancier option)
– USA
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Jeff Buckley
Rage Against the Machine
Eels
The White Stripes
The Strokes
Kings of Leon
The Killers
Foo Fighters
Interpol
The National
Fleet Foxes
Bon Iver
The Black Keys
MGMT
Vampire Weekend
LCD Soundsystem (dancier option)
– Oz
Tame Impala
Jagwar Ma (dancier option)
OK, that’ll do for now, I’m bound to have missed several obvious ones, but can maybe add those later. Please look up some of these bands, just listen to whatever’s popular on YouTube, I think you’ll like it…
