Flights booked + bike name?

Posted by on 09/12/2013

I’m pleased to say that today I’ve booked my internal flights across Brazil, from Cuiaba to Brasilia (mid-cycle) and Manaus to Sao Paulo to Belo Horizonte to Rio (between the England WC games).

Just need to sort out accommodation and match tickets now, but I’ve already had some couchsurfing offers from kind Brazilians willing to put me up so that’s amazing and hopefully there’s more to come, plus the expectation seems to be that England’s World Cup ticket allocation will be undersubscribed so we should be ok to get tickets via englandfans, woohoo!

Oh and if you’re wondering, yes, I’ve already got my flights to/from Brazil booked; I leave London on 17th Jan and return on 18th July (a few days after the WC Final).

Back to now and I need to get out on the bike more so despite the chilly weather (it’s actually pretty good for mid-Dec) I’m going to do a mini cycle tour around London over the next few days.  Tomorrow I’ll head up to Watford and then – this is the weird bit – camp in my parents’ back garden as practice of using the kit out of my pannier bags!  Then on Weds I’m going to visit one of the regular activities held by the WFC CSE Trust, and after that I’m not sure yet where I’m heading but will probably loop around the Home Counties for a couple of days before heading home.

And speaking of my bike, I think it needs a name.  So I’m considering running a raffle whereby everyone that enters can suggest a name which if drawn as the winner I then have to stick with throughout my trip (clearly can’t be offensive, but otherwise anything goes!), plus I have some other great prizes like a Gianfranco Zola signed WFC shirt to give away!  More info on this to follow after Xmas.
