Thanks to Jane at Laureus, tonight I went to visit the amazing Fight For Peace London Academy in Newham, E16, and we were shown around by Marigold who’s the Head of Programmes there.
Fight For Peace was founded by Londoner Luke Dowdney in Rio de Janeiro in 2000 and it’s thrived there ever since, which led to a replication of the model in London since 2007 – I plan to visit the Brazilian Luta Pela Paz academy during my cycle!
It’s an incredibly successful project that uses boxing and martial arts combined with education and personal development to realise the potential of young people in communities that suffer from crime and violence – please read more here:
