I just discovered this incredible expedition across Brazil called Brazil 9000!
Two guys (Aaron Chervenak & Gareth Jones) are crossing Brazil from north to south on a historical ‘human-powered’ journey of 9,000km (5,500 miles).
They’ve recently arrived safely in Belem on the Atlantic ocean after travelling through the Amazon basin by canoe. The next stage is walking across the scorched Caatinga hinterlands then down the tropical coastline to Rio! And the final phase will be cycling across southern Brazil to the Uruguayan border.
Wow – it’s the same overall distance as my trip but such a greater challenge – incredible. I really hope our paths will cross somewhere in north eastern Brazil, it’d be amazing to meet them!
