Guide to Brazil for England fans
Here’s my simple tips/advice for England fans coming to Brazil for the World Cup: SmudgerSambaCycle Guide To Brazil (updated 24th May)
High point then, uh oh, detour
Wednesday was probably my favourite cycling day of the #SambaCycle so far! And Thursday wasn’t too far behind, so add in Tuesday’s lovely ride to Alto Paraiso and you’ve actually got a cracking 3 day road cycling tour that I’d recommend anyone to do! Hmm, did I delete that junk email that was trying to … Continue reading
Video: The Story So Far
Amazing work by Laurie to produce this cracking video that summarises my seven #SambaCycle stadium visits so far – please watch and share!
2,000 miles samba cycled
Today my odometer ticked past the 3,218km mark which means that I’ve now samba cycled over 2,000 miles! And despite my attempts to go metric, this reminds me how British I am because 2,000 miles is a HUGE distance and therefore seems WAY further than 3,218km, even though I know they’re the same. The wifi’s … Continue reading
UFO spotting in Camelot
The weirdness continues… but now it’s mysticism and extraterrestrials! From the Valley of Dawn I had a 120km cycle north on Monday and clearly I’d lost my edge during two weeks off the bike as it was a really tough ride, not helped by the persistent drizzle and wind. My legs were feeling the strain … Continue reading
Religious cult themepark
You have to read the Wiki for Vale do Amanhecer and watch this video: Yes, it’s a real place, I’m staying in a b&b here tonight! The temple’s a couple of minutes walk away and I spent this afternoon wandering around trying to work out what on earth was going on as the oddly costumed … Continue reading
Beardwatch and Brenda the bike
BEARDWATCH: an early Mothers Day gift to my Mum… with my beard getting out of control after more than two months growth and so making me look like a hobo, yesterday I cracked and bought this: Before (where’s my mouth?!): After (need a haircut now too!): Reckon I’ll grow the beard again over the … Continue reading
Stadium number 7
After Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Brasilia, this week I visited #Brasil2014 stadium number 7 in Cuiabá. The Arena Pantanal is another one that’s been in the news because of delays, and I can tell you that they still have plenty of work to do! I was shown around … Continue reading
Charities reminder
Today the two #SambaCycle charities received a £40 donation from the Sharjah English School with the message: “Good luck and keep going – the children sold lemonade to raise the money :-)” – how brilliant is that! Thanks to Keith and everyone at the school for your great support; that’s given me a real boost and … Continue reading
REAL Pantanal pics
Did I get you? Hehe hoaxed! Sorry if it upset anyone, but I couldn’t resist. So here’s the actual photos from my 3 day ‘safari’ into the Northern Pantanal… It may please you to know that I saw no anacondas and the baby jaguar we spotted turned out to probably have been an ocelot, still … Continue reading
